Visiones Sonoras Festival in Morelia, Mexico presents Bora Yoon and Neil Rolnick headlining the 2017 festival of music and new technologies!  Featuring live visualist Joshue Ott (superDraw) both sets the evenings October 11th and October 12th.  The ‘Visiones Sonoras’ (Sound Visions) festival has become established as the main event of its kind in Mexico and one of the most important in Latin America. Designed to forge ties between artists and students, create new audiences and foster the creation of new works that incorporate the use of new technologies, the festival brings together composers and through a series of lectures and workshops and commissions from Mexican and foreign creators.  ‘Visiones Sonoras’ also provides spaces for learning about and discussing specific aspects of the composition and performance of music incorporating cutting-edge technology, as well as the presentation of facilities and concerts with the ideal infrastructure for putting interested audiences in contact with the performers, composers and most representative expressions in the electro-acoustic field today.  more info >>

The WNYC Greene Space and MAPP International present poet Sekou Sundiata’s last theater work, ’the 51st (dream) state’ – as an intimate performance hosted by John Schaefer (of Soundcheck, WNYC). Over three years (2003-2006), Sundiata traveled through the U.S. gathering perspectives from ordinary Americans to create the 51st dream state. In the shadow of 9/11, he sought to understand how he and others felt about being American in an age of empire and what future we could imagine and make possible.  City-wide retrospective Blink Your Eyes revives this expansive, illuminating work for a live audience, a live video webcast, and audio podcast.  Watch for more information on the official website for this special 7-month citywide memorial retrospective of Sekou’s profound contributions and works.  >>

Phonographies “PLINKO” released as a wax cylinder!  Aleks Kolkowski presents a unique audio archive of contemporary wax cylinder recordings, featuring a wide range of musicians, improvisers, composers, writers and artists. All the entries have been recorded and reproduced mechanically and acoustically, using horns and early 1900s Edison phonographs >see Recording the Archive >>. . Phonographies aired weekly on Resonance 104.4 FM!  The entire first series of eight half-hour programmes devoted to the Phonographies archive will be repeated on Mondays to Fridays from 19th until 28th of December 2011. Many unpublished wax cylindersthat are not featured in the archive are also played during the shows, along with the occasional historical treat.
