Upcoming Live Performances

Sat / 04.21 / Smithsonian / Washington DC

Smithsonian ensemble-in-residence 21st Century Consort, directed by Christopher Kendall, commissions Bora Yoon for a new multimedia work in response to Do Ho Suh’s fabric memory houses, and series of architecturally reconstructed corridors and passageways.  The exhibition “Do Ho Suh: Almost Home” highlights the artist’s physical manifestation of memory, reckoning with ideas of personal history, cultural traditions, and belief systems in the contemporary world. Two new works will be presented, and Bora Yoon will also be heard in selections from Sarah Kirkland Snider’s unforgettable mega-cycle, “The Unremembered.”   more info >>

Fri.Sat / 04.27-28 / National Sawdust / Brooklyn NY

National Sawdust is proud to present Brooklyn Youth Chorus’ powerful project, Silent Voices, harnessing the power of young people to be instruments of change, giving voice to those who have been silenced or marginalized by social, cultural or religious circumstances. The Chorus has commissioned a diverse group of innovative artists to interpret rich historical narratives and personal stories and create music that explores race and identity, inequity and social disparity—music that matters.  Premieres of the new works will be performed on April 27th and 28th, in a 2-day celebration at National Sawdust.  Directed, conceived and curated by Brooklyn Youth Chorus’ Founding Artistic Director, Dianne Berkun Menaker.  more info >>
