Park Avenue Armory in partnership with National Sawdust and lead partner National Black Theatre present ’100 years | 100 Women’.  have invited ten New York City-based cultural institutions to join 100 Years |100 Women, a two-part, multidisciplinary initiative marking the centennial of the ratification of the 19th Amendment. Partners include Apollo Theater; The Juilliard School; La MaMa Experimental Theatre Company; The Laundromat Project; The Metropolitan Museum of Art; Museum of the Moving Image; New York University (Department of Photography and Imaging, Tisch School of the Arts; Office of Global Inclusion, Diversity and Strategic Innovation; and Institute of African American Affairs & Center for Black Visual Culture); and Urban Bush Women.

Sat / 7.11 / 11a / Tippet Rise Art Center / Montana

Montana’s naturescape and art center Tippet Rise and Pnea Foundation present a co-commission by composer Bora Yoon for a new work for flute and electronics.  New work ‘The Haunted Orchard’, will be performed by acclaimed flutist, MacArthur Fellow, and experimental cultural activist Claire Chase. Yoon’s new work is part of Music from Density 2036, her 23-year commitment to co-commission a new body of work for solo flute. The piece punctuates the morning’s program which features works by Felipe Lara, Suzanne Farrin, Phyllis Chen and Marcos Balter. Dubbed “the young star of the modern flute” by The New Yorker and “the most important flutist of our time” by The New York Times, Chase has given the world premieres of hundreds of new works for the flute in performances throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia. This is the artist’s debut concert at Tippet Rise.  Event held at The Olivier Music Barn | more info + tickets >>>
